A Pear Tree for "Pauly Pants"

Common Pear Tree planted at WildCat Wilderness

Planted by Jenna, Joe, Sonia, Alex and Oli

We met Paul in the first days of university, in the humble surroundings of University Hall, Bristol. He studied Biochemistry with Sonia, danced with his top off in Wedgies with Joe and Oli, and was generally an excellent friend to all of us. Since those days, we have been on various holidays together and visited Paul in his various locations around the world, from hiking the Camino, to kayaking across Scandinavian lakes, to setting up a life in Kenya. We look forward to picnicing by Paul's tree this summer, with friends who couldn't join us to plant, and we welcome all of you to get in touch if you're in south east London.

Wild Cat Wilderness is walking or cycling distance from all of us in SE London, and they are currently planting an orchard. A neighbour had to remove their pear tree as it was no longer safe to grow on their land, and our tree-planting guide took some graphs from it to 'save' the tree. This was the one we chose, a pear for Paul. They hope it may bear fruit in a couple of years. Wild Cat run forest schools, have an outdoor kitchen and veg patches. They also have workshops for those looking to improve their health and wellbeing by being in the open air, using your hands, and feeling part of nature.
